Awards for IPENZ Members, Engineers, Students and Engineering Projects

IPENZ recognises excellence, achievement and service to the engineering profession by offering or supporting awards to IPENZ Members, engineers and students. The following is a list of our awards with links to further information.

National awards for professionals

Fulton-Downer Gold Medal - President's Award - presented annually to an IPENZ Member or group of Members to acknowledge effort and achievement, particularly demonstrating the strengths of the engineering profession in its role of public service.

Fulton-Downer Silver Medal - President's Award - an occasional award presented to recognise an IPENZ Member for meritorious service within the engineering profession.

MacLean Citation - an occasional award presented to a Member who has rendered exceptional and distinguished service to the profession.

Turner Award for Professional Commitment - an award presented annually in recognition of a continuing contribution to the ideals of a self-regulating engineering profession.

Supreme Technical Award for Engineering Achievers - biennial awards presented to IPENZ Members. The award recognises individual Members who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their career, to the advancement of engineering knowledge and its practical application.

New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards - premier awards to recognise and celebrate excellence in engineering, presented annually at the New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards Dinner. These awards are not restricted to IPENZ Members.

New Zealand Royal Honours and IPENZ Members - IPENZ supports the nomination of professional engineers and seeks your suggestions.

National awards for students

Ray Meyer Medal for Excellence in Student Design - presented annually to the student or group of students with the best final-year project. The award has a substantial design component. Students must be completing an IPENZ-accredited tertiary qualification.

Transpower Neighbourhood Engineers Awards - presented annually for the most innovative collaboration between primary or secondary students, teachers and volunteer engineers working on practical projects in the school and community.

Regional and technical awards
